Effect of four molten salts on synthesis of hercynite powder by molten salt method

摘要:

以Fe2O3粉、Al2O3粉和石墨粉为主要原料,分别以NaCl、KCl、NaCl-KCl和NaCl-Na2CO3为熔盐介质,采用熔盐法在1 000 ℃高纯氮气气氛中保温3 h合成铁铝尖晶石粉,然后对合成铁铝尖晶石粉进行XRD、SEM-EDS和粒度分析。结果表明:以NaCl-Na2CO3作为熔盐介质未能合成出铁铝尖晶石,因为Na2CO3与Al2O3在Na2CO3熔点(851 ℃)以上温度反应生成了Na2Al2O4。以NaCl、 KCl和NaCl-KCl作为熔盐介质均能合成出纯度较高的铁铝尖晶石,并且在NaCl-KCl熔盐介质中合成的铁铝尖晶石的平均粒度比在KCl和NaCl熔盐介质中合成的铁铝尖晶石的大,粒度分布也更均匀。

Abstract:

Hercynite powders were prepared using Fe2O3,Al2O3 and graphite powder as the raw materials,NaCl,KCl,NaCl-KCl and NaCl-Na2CO3 as the molten salt medium,fired at 1 000 ℃ for 3 h in high-purity nitrogen atmosphere by the molten salt method.The synthetic hercynite powders were analyzed by XRD,SEM-EDS and in terms of the particle size.The results show that hercynite is not formed using NaCl-Na2CO3 as the molten salt medium,because Na2CO3 reacts with Al2O3 to form Na2Al2O4 at a temperature above the melting point of Na2CO3 (851 ℃);high-purity hercynite can be synthesized using NaCl,KCl or NaCl-KCl as the molten salt medium;when NaCl-KCl is used as the molten salt medium,the average particle size of the hercynite is larger,and the particle distribution is more uniform compared with the one using NaCl or KCl.
